ESR 9 @ IFW Dresden, Germany
Adnan possesses a B.Sc. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Major as well as in Mechanical Engineering Minor from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Graduating as an honor student, Adnan also worked with Turkish Aerospace as a candidate engineer in his senior year at the university.
In 2018, he completed his Erasmus+ internship at the Erich Schmid Institute of Material Sciences in Austria. During his internship, he focused on the assessment of mechanical, thermal, and structural properties of CuZr-based metallic glasses. He specifically carried out research on the oxidation kinetics of CuZrAl metallic glass using differential scanning calorimetry.
Subsequently, he pursued his master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the Delft University of Technology and specialized in metals science and technology; corrosion and surface protection, physical metallurgy of steels, and structure-property relationship particularly. In his master’s thesis, he aimed to identify the effect of microstructural constituents on the corrosion behavior of Q&P (Quenching and Partitioning) treated martensitic stainless steels.
Currently, Adnan works as an early-stage researcher at Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden) in Germany. He carries out research on the corrosion behavior and electrochemical response of the metastable Ti-alloys with bacteria-killing oxide-based coatings for implant applications.
