Miguel Brito Costa holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, both awarded by Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon (Portugal). During his Master’s program (2016-2018), he studied for a year at the Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) as an Erasmus+ student.
His MSc thesis focused on the development of alloys for applications in nuclear fusion reactors. Following his graduation, he worked as a research assistant at the Centre of Physics and Engineering of Advanced Materials (Portugal).
Before joining the BIOREMIA in September 2020, Miguel worked at the European Space Agency (the Netherlands) where his activities involved the Space Environmental Testing and Qualification of Materials for ESA’s Missions and research regarding additive manufacturing in Space.
Currently, Miguel is a PhD candidate at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy of the University of Cambridge (UK). His project focuses on the optimisation of biomechanical behaviour and deformation mechanisms of antibacterial glassy alloys.
